Celebrate with us

Queer West celebrates not only the stories of queer life on the coasts, but the lives, adventures, and joy of LGBTQ2S people living under the majesty, power, and complicated history of the American West.

Filmmakers can expect lively Q&As, engaging panel discussions, and a casual, jovial atmosphere. Our festival always incudes talk-backs, mixers and plenty of time to connect with local, regional and national filmmakers. The festival staff is well-known for clear communication, inventive programming, and delivering a fun, satisfying festival experience for audiences and guests alike.

The QWFF Vision

From the restrictive Hays Code that constructed a celluloid closet, to the queer indie explosion of the mid-90s, to our contemporary conversations about representation, both independent and mainstream cinema have struggled with the way they portray LGBTQ2S people and stories. While representation has obviously bettered over the last century of cinema, the question now turns to what queer stories get told. Queer West celebrates not only the stories of queer life on the coasts, but the lives, adventures, and joy of LGBTQ2S people living under the majesty, power, and complicated history of the American West.

Welcome to our new QWFF Artistic Director

This year, we are excited to welcome Daniel Crary as the Artistic Director of Queerwest Film Fest!

You may recognize him as a local actor and member of the arts community. His artistic vision and enthusiasm have been an awesome addition to the team.
